The added value of international cooperation through CUBE is manifested in the creation of transdisciplinary knowledge bases for the identification of sustainable initiatives and possible paths towards the bioeconomy as a basis for territorial development, as well as for the identification of institutional, social, technical and management bottlenecks.
CUBE will also initiate exchange and mutual reinforcement between Cuban and German actors in science and practice. In a later phase and as a continuation of bioeconomic research in Cuba, it is planned to open training opportunities for young scientists through academic exchanges and doctoral studies, building on the experience of the international BIGS-DR program of the ZEF.
Finally, through the publication of its results, CUBE will also contribute to the international debate on how to develop sustainable and functional bio-economies in low and middle-income countries.
